It's finally here, FREEBIE FRIDAY! And here's how it works. Every Friday, I will post a "freebie" I'm going to give away. It might be a pattern, a gift certificate, fabric, precuts, gadgets... whatever I decide to give away. I might even give a quilt away. You just never know but you have to check each Friday to see what it is. To enter to win, all you have to do is leave me a comment about whatever it is that I ask about. On the following Thursday evening, I will generate a random number and whoever's comment matches that number wins the "freebie". Be sure your name is attached to the comment. I can't give it away to "anonymous".
The first "freebie" is 3 charm packs from Darlene Zimmerman's Clothes Line Closet fabric line. There are 23 five inch squares in each pack. Leave me a comment about whether or not you have made a quilt or project using 30's prints and what it was.
Don't forget to leave me a comment and good luck.
I have not made a quilt with 30's prints, although I love them. I have several 30's fat quarters but I seem to "save them for something special". Maybe this is the year to make them into a quilt.
ReplyDeleteI have made a couple ! I think you may have quilted one of them.

I'm never done a 30's project but want to try a small dresdin plate wall hanging. I just have to finish some UFOs first. Laurie

I have not made a quilt using 30's fabrics, but am collecting fabrics that I'd like to use.
ReplyDeleteI have made a baby quilt with 30's fabric. I can't remember the name of the pattern, it looks like interlocking bow ties. Unfortunately, the baby was still born, and I would never feel right giving the quilt to anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI've never made a quilt using 30's fabric. Don't even own any 30's fabric. Would be fun to win these and make a little something.
ReplyDeleteI've complete a king size quilt from Eleanor Burns' Egg Money quilt in 30's fabrics -- in fact it's on my bed. I've also made a log cabin style heart crib quilt from the leftovers -- it's just a top and hanging on the wall in our bedroom. I think I made a baby tossed 9-patch - given away and I'm currently working on Sylvia's Bridal Sampler in 30's prints. These charm packs would be great for the SBS as it uses lots of little pieces. What a great giveaway -- thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt is my Leader-Ender project. A ribbon twist using my stash of 30's fabrics! Maybe someday it will be complete. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI really "love" the old fashioned patterns....guess I'm just "old fashioned" girl!

I made a quilt with my grandmother with 30s repro fabrics. it was a Dresden plate quilt. my grandmother was 89 and this was her first quilt. I cut stacks of wedges out for her and marked the seam then I went to work. when I came home after work, she had them all hand sewn and was ready for more. I put the blocks together for her and we had our first project professionally quilted. we made three more quilts together before she passed away. when I see Dresden or 30s fabrics; they remind me of our special time together.
ReplyDeleteI have not made a quilt with 30' fabrics. But I but an antique quilt at an estate sale that I need those fabrics for to do some repair work
ReplyDeleteI have made a Dresden Plate quilt using 30's fabrics and just love how it turned out. Still needs to be quilted and it is next on my list as I will hand quilt it.
ReplyDeleteI have not used any 30s fabrics but I find myself more drawn to the look lately. They would make a very nice quilt.

I have a beautiful top made in 30s fabric waiting to be quilted. It is an Eleanor Burns pattern and I have debated hand quilting since that would fit with the time period of the fabric and pattern.
ReplyDeleteI made a set of cup towels for a friend using 30s prints to applique elephants from a Love of Quilting pattern and a baby quilt for my niece. Love the nostalgic look!
ReplyDeleteI am not a real big fan of 30's prints but used them to make a baby quilt with heart blocks for my grandchild to be (didn't know the sex) and loved them way it came out. I think that 30's need to be done in certain patterns only.
ReplyDeleteI have never made a quilt with 30's prints but I love the way they look. I know of several patterns that would look good with these charm squares and I would love to win.
ReplyDeleteBack in the early 1980's (before there were any lines of "30's prints") I spent months gathering soft prints reminiscent of that time and made a lovely double nine patch quilt--didn't finish the hand quilting until the 1980's. I just love it!
ReplyDeleteI used 30's prints for baby quilts. They always turn out so cute.
ReplyDeleteI adore 30s and finished a queen size floral quilt with them. I also want to do a Goose in the Pond using 30s...thanks for the opportunity !!
